Charles Brothers died from wounds on 20th March, 1915, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 3rd Middlesex battalion did not arrive back in England from India until the end of 1914 where they joined 85 Brigade of 28th Division. They went to France on 19th January, 1915 and spent the rest of that month training at Flêtre before moving to Ypres on 4th February and into the front line near there.
